German Embassy Islamabad appreciated Moers Cricket Club e.V’s Project “Cricket for Refugees” .

Germans and Pakistanis have a passion for sports. A great example is Abad Arkam, a young Pakistani-German, who helps refugees and brings people together through Cricket!

Abad was born in Pakistan but moved to Germany eleven years ago. He has recently founded the first Cricket Club in Moers, Germany, the Moers Cricket Club e.V. Abad is convinced that sport has a positive influence on the society, so he initiated the project “Cricket for refugees” together with the city Moers. Through sport and with his language skills he helps refugees to integrate in Germany (have a look at this article – http://www.rp-online.de/…/cricket-fuer-fluechtlinge-startet…).

Abad recently travelled to Pakistan to visit his home village near Rawat, where he founded the Sport Club Mohra Darogha as a partner club to his cricket club in Moers. Together with friends and neighbours he wants to promote sport activities for children and teenagers.

We are impressed by Abad’s commitment and dedication to help others! Thank you for visiting the Embassy and sharing your ideas with us!
